Team1 Vs.

Team 1 vs. Team 2

22nd to 30th July 2011

Competition is something that is key, and inherent, in not only our day-to-day lives, but also
our evolutionary history and our current economic way of thinking. Even in a simple sense,
the idea of competitive games has been around for almost as long as humans have, allowing
people to strive for success over others.

Team One vs Team Two is an on going sculptural event, running over ten days at Hatch
Space, Deptford. Beginning with no preconceived intentions, two teams of three artists will
occupy the gallery space for alternating two-hour time slots. Working on one, large-scale
sculptural piece between them, each team must try to outdo, sabotage, destroy or cause
general havoc to the other team’s efforts, whilst doing their best to push the work in their own
formal and conceptual direction.

Audiences are invited to compare, and even support their chosen team, whilst viewing the
continued creation of a major work.
